    JB7 with camo cover

Here's my JB7 tschako, as requested by Lars13 (thank you, Lars). It's a complete outfit. The cover is small and I can't be sure they were issued together. But they were together at a Show of Shows in the early days of Louisville. It was sitting on a table three rows just in, calling me. The...

    Sea Battalion Tschako for Wachmeister

Thought I’d show my Sea Battalion tschako. I bought it as a Wachmeister’s, though it could be an OR’s private purchase piece I suppose. It’s got a high quality, gilt frosted plate (screwback), officer parade bush and trichter, and an officer quality sweatband and silk liner. Plus, an elegant...

Characteristics of Prussian lines helmet eagle of the various models of pickelhauben

Sandy - The depth of your research amazes me, e.g. the subtle differences in tail feathers on a Prussian line eagle. Nice work. Dosty

    Prince Adolf photos

Thanks for the additional photos, Jvpi. Here is a set of medals I discovered on the Gentleman's Military Interest forum, dated 2019. They appear identical. I think, to the ones worn by Prince Adolf. Naturally, they are not named. They could be Adolf's, or his brother, or perhaps another...

    Prince Adolf's hussar attila?

The collar does look large. However, the mannequin neck is quite scrawny too. A rough measurement is 20 inches around the uniform collar.

    Prince Adolf's hussar attila?

A good alternative theory. If they did wear colored tunics in the early war period, it would reconcile the early uniform with the last style of pelzmutze as on my display.

    Prince Adolf's hussar attila?

Not long ago, I acquired a handsome pre-war Hussar dress attila for a Leutnant in Hussar Regiment Nr. 7. Unfortunately, it had no name. It had 6 loops for 5-6 medals, and a loop for a badge on the lower left. The owner was tall. What leutnant would have 5-6 medals in peacetime? An old post I...

All Quiet on the Western Front

One thing I wondered about was that bullet hole in Paul’s helmet. He got it, I believe, in 1917. At the end of the war, 1918, he had the same helmet with the same hole. Was it normal to keep a “holed” helmet? I would have guessed not. Dosty

    Another HR 20 busby

The kolpak is sewn all around, so no way to see the top, unfortunately.
