I think that this helmet is a copy. I've seen one like that at a famous english dealer a few years ago. Here you are some pics. But some parts of these helmets seem to be genuine and especially the shell... :-k Maxime

In my opinion these are both typical Tschapkas from the Luckenwalder Hutfabriken. It is no doubt that the first one has been repaired. The liner looks like a copy and the fixing of the mortar board is clearly repaired. I've some doubt about the mortar board, it could be a (fine) copy as for the...

According to a french collector, the stars for Garde Uhlan eagles were sent to USA in a different lot and they were never fixed on these helmets. The few M1915 Tschapkas that I saw for sale in Germany or Europe were all with the correct star (a bit smaller) fixed on the eagle front plate. I'm...

This Tschapka looks good for me. About the starless eagle plates on the Garde Tschapkas, it seems to be a typical detail on the "War Bond Helmets" brought back in USA after 1918. Not sure that they have been worn starless during the war. Maxime
