    Saxon L G R 100 Officer and Bavarian General

Beautiful helmets! I always thought the Bavarian General's helmet is the most aesthetically pleasing of all pickelhauben. But not as nice as your mitres! Steve

    M16 Camo

Amy, Curious about why you think this is from the 70s. I was pretty actively collecting at that time and never saw anything like this. But this is why I asked. My belief is that if someone was making these fairly recently, there would be more than one and perhaps another collector has seen a...

    M16 Camo

Nothing new to report. I still have the helmet, still don't know when it was done. I have owned it since the early 1990s. Steve

Researching the Identity of a Soldier using his Gasmask Carrier

I’m afraid I don’t agree with the 6th Regiment 11th Battery theory. I believe there would be some kind of separation in the numbers between the regiment and battery designations. Notice the periods after all the other designators in the marking. Most of my experience in regimental markings is in...

Steve's latest find, a KAGGR1 Fusilier Battalion Officer Miter.

Beautiful, beautiful piece of headgear. And I thought I was doing well to get an enlisted fusilier miter. Steve

Looks to be a liner to Pickelhaube bead roller.

Wow! Certainly something you don’t see every day. I know a lot of people scorn ebay, but I’ve always said sooner or later everything in the world is for sale on ebay. Steve

    Kürassier Helmet ersatz

Didn’t we have a thread about a felt Cuirassier helmet a few years ago? Steve

    A thread from other forum

I commented on that thread. What I saw was a guy asking for help and getting ridiculed and beaten down. I started collecting over 50 years ago, and mainly collect arms. No internet, not many reference books, I paid my dues, took my knocks and learned the hard way. The bright spots of those days...

    WWI Jet Kurassier Helmet

I had no idea the Imperial German Air Service was so advanced.

    German Army Bands

Did bandsmen even carry weapons? I don't think so. Again, from memory, each company had a few drummers and buglers, these were regular soldiers. They would have worn the troddel of the company they were part of. Steve

    German Army Bands

Working from memory here, but I think band members were hired by contract and not technically soldiers. Buglers and drummers were soldiers however. Steve

    Salty M15 Baden JR 111

Over the years I’ve seen a fair amount of material from the 111th, the doughboys must have overrun them. I have a German gas mask I picked up at a yard sale named and unit marked to the 111th on one of the straps. Steve

    Holster markings

Are the markings faint or obscured? The regimental marking makes no sense as written. It may actually say 3FsAR which would be the 3rd Foot Artillery Regiment. There also may have been an A in front of the WM, reading AWM which is a Bavarian maker. Steve

    Good news, bad news

Wow! Even in my fascist state they kept the liquor stores open. They even deliver. They did close the gun stores though. They also stopped processing firearms permits, and if yours happens to expire, you’re SOL. Steve
