    Imperial cavalry visor caps

Assuming that you refer to the dragoon cap, what leads you to believe that? It's absolutely an original, IMHO.

    Imperial cavalry visor caps

I picked up these two caps at this year's SOS. The dragoon officer cap is for either of the two Garde regiments, or the 1st, 5th, or 13th line Prussian regiments. The nco's cap is for the 3rd Hussars.

    SOS Visor purchases

Thanks for the kind comments. I believe the seller's name was Laurent Mirouze, who, if I recall correctly, authored many articles over the years for the French magazine 'Militaria", along with a number of uniform books.

US Army M1902 Dress Visor cap 7th Cavalry

A recent Ebay purchase; bit salty, with some mothing, but still displays well, IMHO. Of course, one can switch the badge to any regiment, but this is the badge it came with. For what it's worth, "D" Company was commanded by Capt. Thomas Weir at the Battle of the Little Big Horn, and was spared...

    SOS Visor purchases

I found them way back in the corner of the smaller room/hall, on the left. Two very pleasant French gentlemen, who had about 5 or 6 Imperial schirmmutzen.

    SOS Visor purchases

There was a reasonably good selection of Imperial peaked caps at the SOS. I was fortunate to acquire these two caps from a European seller waaaay back in the corner of the vast hall First visor is for an NCO of the 3rd von Zieten Hussars. Second cap is for an officer of either of the two Garde...

    SOS 2015 pictures

I saw about a dozen or so home service helmets at the SOS .I recall two other ranks versions, for the Queen's Royal East Surrey Regt., and the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry ( ?) a Territorial Regt. Both were in very good condition, and had some at least minor restoration done. Both were priced...

Someone will be burned — badly, I fear

Thse "private" auctions are often questionnable. and this could very well be a case of shill bidding. It often happens on Ebay, but they don't care, as long as the final price gets inflated. For Gott's sake, though, don't show a swastika; the Ebay PC police will be on you in a flash!

    Rare Schirmmutze

Thanks for your response. Although I was convinced of it's authenticity, I took it the the recent MAX Show, since I live 25 miles away. I showed it to reps from Hermann Historica who were there, and they confirmed that's it a good cap, and quite rare.

    Rare Schirmmutze

I believe this is a rare schirmmutze, issued to the Bavarian Leibgarde der Hartschiere, the King's ceremonial guard. This unit, formed in 1669, consisted of a total of 107 men, all ranks.

    Fantastic Uniform

If, I may: I have twice tried to register at the GMIC, aa recently as two days ago, and have never recieved a response. I tried to email an enquiry via their contact us tab, and it was not accepted. I would very much like to join/ register, but have found the process quite frustrating; for what...

    Feldgrau Schirmmutzes

My only feldgrau schirmmutze; a common Prussian infantry officer's, but it is in very good condition.

What kind of Schirmmutze is this?

You are thinking of perhaps Third Reich era caps, when red was the waffenfarbe for artillery. In the Imperial era, artillery caps did indeed have red piping, as did infantry, and many cavalry regiments, but it was mainly identified by the black band on mutzen & schirmmutzen, and black...

Hanseatic & Saxon Ersatz Schirmmützen WW1

Sorry, but your Waffen-SS cap is a hideous fake, for many reasons, The insignia is especially bad, and the label is not one you would find in a W-SS cap. The gebirgsjager insignia is also bad , and totally inappropriate for this cap.

    Ooops!

Having seen many items from this seller over the years, in my opinion, he has a LOT of dodgy stuff.
