I can’t tell if it is real or fake , metal helmets are the most risky ones to buy. There are some good metalworkers out there. It would help to see the spike and the eagle removed. The liner looks suspicious. This is a fake, (as stated by the auction house) the liner is always the giveaway.

It is a private purchase helmet, hence no stamps. These are usually still in good condition. Strangely enough, a small piece has been cut out of the liner, perhaps the name may not be known, otherwise it looks fine.

Good advice ! don't think; what is it worth, think what's it worth to you . (if you are a collector and not a dealer of course)

I wouldn't worry too much about the reserve cross, the weld looks original, the re-soldering of the loops suggests the eagle was not born with the helmet.
