Hi Markgraf, No, I couldn't find anymore information about the Austro-Hungarian soldiers. If anyone else can that would be great. Most of the biographical information and the name and nationality of the only KuK soldier identified was in this PDF document-...

    Afghan Mission 1915-16

Thank you Glenn, as always. When I asked "can anyone help identify..." what I actually meant was "can Glenn help identify..."! That's a great starting point. Do you know any of these medals for certain? Have you seen Hentig on a Rangliste? I guess with him not being an active officer before...

    Waffenrock to identify

Volume2 of The German Infantry from 1871 to 1914 Uniforms and Equipment by Ulrich Herr and Jens Nguyen will tell you a lot about them. I would agree on the Württemberg 1871 tunic but we all know it's difficult in this field to be 100%. Cheers Chris

    Defenders of Tsingtau curios photo

Thanks for the replies and well spotted with the rifles chaps... yes, they are British. The ammunition bandoliers look like British 1903 model too. My thoughts are they are from the German company of the Shanghai Volunteer Corps, who wore a mixture of German and British uniforms with British...
