The next photo shows the lions garding one of the city gates of Ypres, it's the gate where most soldiers left the city of Ypres when they went to the front. a very small garde du corps

i would call it "puppetsize", i think only a newborn would be able to wear the helmet. My first idea was that the helmet was a presentation model of some kind. Unfortunately it's at my parents home, else i would take a picture of the little gdc next to my gdc helmet. Greetings Pickelhaube

Here is a small garde du corps helmet i bought years ago, the crown can be unscrewed and there is felt on the inside. Has anybody seen other exemples of these little helmets or knows when these were produced? The height of the helmet is 8 inches. Greetings Pickelhaube

    The lions of Ypres

Last weekend i went to Ypres and i was surprised to see these lions at the menin gate. In 1822 they were placed at the entrance of the cloth hall in Ypres and in the mid 19th century these lions were moved to the place where the menin gate is located now. All the soldiers who left Ypres on their...

    Restoration

Like Brian said, it really depends from collector to collector. In my case, i always try to buy helmets in the best condition, which means i won't buy helmets with torn liners or very misshapen helmetshells. If i encounter a helmetshell in good condition which is missing the helmetplate...
