a very small garde du corps

Here is a small garde du corps helmet i bought years ago, the crown can be unscrewed and there is felt on the inside.
Has anybody seen other exemples of these little helmets or knows when these were produced?

The height of the helmet is 8 inches.

i would call it "puppetsize", i think only a newborn would be able to wear the helmet. My first idea was that the helmet was a presentation model of some kind. Unfortunately it's at my parents home, else i would take a picture of the little gdc next to my gdc helmet.

Could it be a salesman's sample? I know that there are examples of small swords (about the size of a letter opener) that salesmen used. Perhaps this was used as a sample for private purchase helmets???

Just a thought.

I've seen these for sale before and I believe they are not that old, possibly still being produced on a "small scale" :)

I've seen similar British cavalry helmets in scale. These are vintage and were sold as gifts to retiring soldiers, gentlemen, etc.
