I've had this Metalhelm for many years and posted it a while back.
I was researching Kurassier helmet markings today and on a whim I decided to remove the Prussian Korarde to see if I could find a stamp of some sort. The helmet to this point showed no markings anywhere. Not even a size stamp...
Looks to me like this helmet has been re-lacquered recently.
I'm not averse to touching up small areas where lacquer is missing but never the entire shell.
The first Pickelhaube reference book I purchased when I started collecting. At the time, early 70's, it was the only English language book available on the subject. Still have it.
Michael:
Great to see you here.
This is the place to be for all things Pickelhaube and Imperial Germany related. You'll find a wide range of folks here from beginner to advanced and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed unlike some forums out there.
Jams:
Sounds like you had a great show all around. That 117th is a stunning item. A star in any collection.
I would love to attend, but my wife loves spending our winters in Portugal so we all know how that discussion plays out.
I'm not a fan of the camo job I'm afraid.
I don't like the colours. The redish brown should have a more reddish hue. I'd expect to see some yellow ochre and the black lines were supposed to be "a finger width" I know. "How wide is a finger?" These just strike me as too thin.
I'm also...
