Model 1860 Prussian Train Battalion Officer's Pickelhaube

Thanks Tony. I had heard of that book but it is difficult to find. Just like so many other texts concerning Pickelhauben it begins it's study in 1871. Information prior to 1871, Franco-Prussian War and earlier, is hard to find and often has many conflicts. PM, conversation message, sent. John

Model 1860 Train Officer: I'm very glad you answered me on this one. The very reliable source I mentioned is kaisersbunker.com. https://www.kaisersbunker.com/gtp/New/train0.htm I thought maybe it was a misprint. John

Model 1860 Prussian Train Battalion Officer's Pickelhaube

Thank you for your comments. I neglected to mention a couple of things. First, notice that the Wappen on the officer's model 1860 has voided wings as well as a voided crown. Second, I have a research question. In the original post I was going to say that this helmet was used by Train Battalions...

Model 1860 Prussian Train Battalion Officer's Pickelhaube

This is my newest acquisition; a Prussian Train Battalion Officer's helmet: The Train Battalions consisted of supply and logistics troops. They used horse drawn wagons to haul the three B’s necessary for an army to function (beans, bullets, and bandages). Though they used the railways for...

This is what I get too. I can go into my mailbox (letter top right of screen) and start a conversation, but the double click on the members name doesn't seem to work for me. John

I tried that once but it never went through. The member never got it and I had no notification that it was ever sent. I gave up. Now I just open a conversation. Can other members see your conversations or are they private? John

    M1915 Prussian Pickelhaube

In the third photo the Kokarde on the bottom is fake. You can see how the flare on the center hole in the first two photos is from the inside out. The flare on the bottom Kokarde is rolled over towards the inside. Dead give away. Interestingly the fake Kokarde, though probably magnetic, will...

I have seen them for 100 Euros. I would not be willing to pay that for this piece though. Too many questions (non-serrated). John

    Latest find after the S O S 2021 Hessian I R 117 ersatz

Not to change the subject, but to put a new twist on it, I am looking for a Bremen Kokarde. Please ask him how much he wants for it. It is non-serrated, so I'm still not sure what it is. John

    M1915 Prussian Pickelhaube

In my personal opinion I would buy a fake for reenacting. These pieces are too valuable, too rare, too scarce, and too historical, to be used in reenactments. I'm not interested in reenacting at all (few veterans are), but it just makes sense not to destroy these items. Just my opinion. John
