Hello,
Not only that... also...
Transmission Battalion No.7 in 1913.
Luftschiffer Battalion No. 2 in 1914 3.Cie.
P.S. Tony beat me to it while I was looking for my photo...
Looking at the massive bronze and the thickness of the leather on these (regulation) helmets, it's not surprising that AKO were constantly lightening their models, culminating in the M15 tip helmet, which weighed barely half as much as an M42. Especially with the cupro-aluminium fittings! 😊
I fully agree with that. This marking is also sometimes found on spiked helmets.
Other variants expressing ‘repair’ or ‘recycling’ exist, here is one for the same A.K.
As for the Feldbrauchbar f, it is frequently found on repaired, restored or reassembled helmets.
F for downgraded helmet...
Totally agree with Tony:
Two ways to "cast" the bronze of this M42 eagle;
---1---Bronze cast in a female mold sculpted in hollow, then compressed by a male mold (in relief). In this case, the obverse is clear, and the reverse a little more blurred, as the "male" press is removed before the...
Yes, in 1842, there was no difference between the ‘Portepee’ non-commissioned officer's roundel and the officer's roundel.
The finish and superior quality of this helmet confirm that it was a private, commercial purchase (including the square-toothed liner with double holes for the adjustment...
Old bombs had already been recycled before the war and during mobilisation in 1914.
Shells were recovered to make new helmets. (seams reworked)

Below, this shell has a seam at the rear, under the rear spine, and another under the front plate:
The 2 Bavarians below, are old reformed...
During my long life as a collector, I have acquired 5 KIR145s. Only one still had the Linien-Adler. The other four had the Grenadier-Adler awarded in 1913. ALL had kept the 8cm eyelets of the Linien-Adler. This is still the case for the one I have left.
The method made it very easy to replace...
In fact, when the FWR eagles were replaced by the Grenadier-Adler, Grenadier helmets received many plates with gliding wings and attachments in the spacing of the FWR eagles known as ‘old 12 Regiments’ (Linien-Grenadier alter Art). In this case, the bridge attachments are between the inner edge...
Logical!!! So the eyelets correspond to the positioning of the fasteners on the Württemberg plate. However, as the fittings are made of nickel silver, the plate must be made of the same material, i.e. a ‘silver’ colour. (PB13, GR119, or 123), which complicates the search, as it is rare.
Good...
It's my turn to share:
---A FAR25 M15, former FAR62 of the Oldenburg, recycled by the B.A.XVIII.
And an astonishing 117 R. Several special features
---The M15 steel-grey plate has the banners attached, as on the brass 1895 models.
---The point is of the Prussian type, smooth but on a...
I think it's a translation problem. So if I understand correctly you're looking for a front plate with 2 bridges, which should correspond to the 2 front eyelets.
The question remains: why a Württemberg plate?
I couldn't agree with you more. I think that the person who resurrects endangered masterpieces has as much or even more merit than the person who buys a finished product in mint condition. In the first case, you really have to be passionate about the object. This means that you have to be...
I've never seen anything like it. You'd need a full-face photo to get a better idea. Is there a regimental marking inside?
As the fittings are in nickel silver, the faceplate must be identical.
Yes, M1867 helmet, given the half-spherical shape of the shell, and the presence of the rear spine rib, with modification of the M1889 visor, and the M1894 modification of the side-post chinstrap attachments. Nothing abnormal to report.
Absolutely!!!
Weissenburger was a manufacturer of tin-tipped helmets based in Stuttgart-Cannstatt, Württemberg. He built a completely original helmet (in 3 crimped parts, special tip with false rivet, fixing of the front plate by a single horizontal bridge-tunel in the centre, etc.). The...
Hello,
Yes, at €600, it's a good price, especially with its beautiful Haarbusch. Your ancestor was a non-commissioned officer, and here we're talking about an officer. But you'll have an officer's helmet that matches your ancestor's hairstyle.
The front plate will do, until you find a large...
