Saxon Garde Reiter Helmet to Parade

Alan, Thank you for the heads up! It's awesome to point out the bad ones so that collectors who may lurk on the boards but not ask questions have a chance of avoiding the landmines. That looks like one of the helmets that the UK forger in the 70's ( I don't recall his name) used to make of the...

Feldgrau Kurassier Regt. Von Driesen (Westfalisches) Nr. 4 Officer

Thank you for the very kind words gentlemen! I had hoped you all would enjoy it. I want to acknowledge and send a profound "Thank you!" to Tony Schnurr who graciously donated a spare Kaiser Bunker stand that it proudly hangs on as well the impetus to seek out my own M1915 brocade belt because...

    dragon helmet?

Hello Ced, In my opinion that appears to be an Austrio-Hungarian (KuK) fireman's helmet but it is heavily modified. One of the indicators of that is the metal bead above the helmet brow as it meets the body. I have never seen a dragon on a KuK helmet comb before, so that has me stumped. The...

Feldgrau Kurassier Regt. Von Driesen (Westfalisches) Nr. 4 Officer

As a follow up to my previous grouping here would be the feldgrau version. It also features the rare version of the M1915 Brocade belt. The 3rd photo displays the Officer's Kurassier pattern uberzug. IMG_20210114_120524782 by John M, on Flickr IMG_20210114_120600985 by John M, on Flickr...

    Thoughts about JzP Officer-Helmet

Thank you Bruno. Yes, the base is darker. However, in my case the chrome has started to wear away from the brass metal that was used for the spike base which lends to a slightly darker appearance. John

    Thoughts about JzP Officer-Helmet

Sandy, This is a correct JzP officer's helmet for Parade for Officers of Regiments 8-13, as you have pointed out. As Bruno pointed out, the shells should have been blackened and of the pointed JzP lobstertail design but for some reason the regulation was not enforced. I have seen more chromed...

    Hoch die Leib Husaren!

I sit here, slack jawed and speechless, in complete awe. That ensemble takes my breath away and I am beyond envious!!! You have the best Totenkopf collection of anyone I have ever met. What a way to start the new year Tony!!! John

Another FA from the Turinetti Collection

I agree with Tony. None withstanding the poorly executed enamel attempt, the Saxon shield is a terribly made copy. John

Sachsen Landwehr-Infanterie-Brigade Nr. 63 (Dresden) XII Armee Korps

Tony Unforkinbelievable!!!! What deal with the Devil did you sign to get such a fantastically rare and impeccably beautiful example of this Waffenrock??? Not a spot on it! The color and condition are striking! The helmet is a knockout as well and really it is a match made in heaven! Bravo...

Perhaps the stout Fallschirmjäger is related to this actual WW2 German soldier as the resemblance is quite remarkable!

Rare tschapka officer of the Guard with removable top - sold

Thank you very much for the confirmation Alan! Then we can assume that for the Ersatz examples of the Guard Tschapkas, an extremely large guard star, coupled with a non enameled, metal ring under the "Suum Cuique" motto are legitimate wappens for these helmets.
