Braunschweiger Officer's Portepee

I like to collect swords and am obsessive about getting the correct sword knots on them so I was thrilled to see this pop up on ebay.de last November. (It finally arrived last weekend...I think it crossed the Atlantic in a sailboat ). These are the same as the Prussian officer's portepee with the black center replaced by the blue/yellow. According the reference carried by the cavalry from 1886 and infantry from 1896.

Thank you gentleman! I feel fortunate to have gotten that. I don't think there are too many of those around. I haven't been able to find a photo in my references.

I used to collect a lot of swords back in the day, that is one Knot I have never seen in person.

The sword itself is also a very difficult find!

Astonishing find! Something you NEVER see, both the sword and the portapee!
I know what you mean about postage. It has become incredibly slow. Probably because nobody goes to a store anymore.
