    ersatz helmet factory

Love these photos of the manufacturing. Spike is on before the visors. Do the helmets in the back ground have Überzug on them?

Help needed to ID Adrian Helmet

I believe that late in the war (WWI) the French switched to a brown color. Also some of the colonial troops wore brown.

    M15 OR's Tschapka "Bond Helmet"

Great job, it has also was puzzled me as to how to restitch the visor on one of these. I've actually have passed up a couple of Tschapkas because of loose front visors. We talked about the Star before, it does appear there are far more with out one than with. Here's mine.

    Spike position of EM helmets

I assume that the holes were originally laid out using some type of template. That alined the four pin holes correctly to the center vent hole. The tec. who laid these out may or may alined it correctly to the front center line. Also remember that leather shrinkage may move the alignment slightly.

    My smallest canon kaliber

As a kid I had a model of 10.5 cm field gun, I believe it was made by Märklin or Elastolin. To load the piece you removed a breech block and filled a small cup with powder, placed a paper cap on the back of the block , and a BB into the breech. Replace the breech block and pull a string, this...

Looking For EM Gray Metal Rear Spine FOUND

Of my sample, 25% of those inspected were not marked. The marking is located on either upper tag (one that goes under the spike base) or the lower tag (the that folds under the rear visor). this upper one is not visible without removing spike. Never gave any thought to the number referring to...

Looking For EM Gray Metal Rear Spine FOUND

I've been trying to match spine lengths to helmet size for a while now. I still don't have enough data to make any 100% positive conclusion. Many of the spines are marked with a size (I've encountered 1 to 7 so far). Although I'm beginning to think that these size markings may vary from maker to...

The best of my German steel helmets collection.

Too often German = Nazi, even some of the so called history programs of TV will use the two terms interchangeably.

AGM OR Hessian Pickelhaube at Greater New Orleans Militaria Show

One of the things I look for on scales, is the buckle used. Reproduction straps usually have a buckle that is much larger than the originals. A missing buckle (to me) is a give away that the strap is a replacement. Here is one of my enlisted helmets with scales (AR70)

    Opinions please Thx

Not sure if I'm correct but... When I look at a cover I try to determine how the color was achieved. It seems to me that the original were made with cloth that was woven using individually dyed threads. While the majority of the fakes are made with cloth that was dyed as a sheet. This gives the...
