Thank you Alan for the photos (which are actually fine) and the explanation. Interesting to see how the leather backing is so off-centre from the highest point, where it meets with the split-pin. Also interesting to see that the inner metal support spike is of the normal type - ie. with a hole...

Very nice indeed. One of mine (dragon) with the red plume in place. The plume for your Gendarme à Cheval should be blue, white and red, like the French flag !! Best Alex
