French Adrian

here is the first one of a new (sub)theme I am starting; WWI French Adrian's with the commemorative plate.
I know some of the plates are add by collectors in the recent days, but that is something I'll have to deal with.
First one in is a complete pionier.

That is cool. Did the individual soldiers keep their helmets and have the plate put on after the war was over?

Very nice Adrian helmet! I still have one, a Chasseur one with the veteran plaque on it, also not named.
I will post pictures of it tomorrow, when lighting is better.
It is the only one I have kept, after selling my collection when things got bad for me. But that one I will never let go.

Thanks.
Yes they did.
Not all of course, but it was quite common.
They probably had to buy the plate, and not everyone was able to have their name stamped or engraved on it.

Thank you also to aicusv and Coert for the reply.
Looking forward to see your helmet, Coert.

Here some pictures of my French Chasseur Adrian helmet.

It is not in the best shape, but it is all original, and made by Japy et freres, you can see that by the way the front and rear peak are being held together. They are soldered, only Japy did that, all other manufacturers used 2 rivets.
I traded this helmet with a forummember for a scruffy FR33 haube I had here. It can be found on the forum too.
Jaap, the guy I traded it with, is however not doing so well nowaday's. To say the least..
So this helmet will stay with me.

Greetings, Coert.

There are so many variants and used by so many countries that you can dedicate a collection to the Adrian.
Highly undervalued and that while half the world used them.
I hope to see more beautiful things in this topic!
Good initiative Kris

Dear All

Nice topic those Adrian helmets.

I have a few. This one is one of the 300,000 first helmets made by Japy, a Parisian firm. Probably never issued.

Best
