    The Kaiser’s Prize (Kaiserschiessabzeichen)

Steve, that's my question; "why was it made?". Right now I have it on hold. Andreas is bringing me some other items to the Max Show, so I'm not sure I'll take it. Paying a little more is not a problem to me, given its rarity.

    Zündnadel - Pioniergewehr

Here is one of my favorites. A M1841 picked up off the battlefield at Woerth (that's what the Prussians called it). The French call it the "Battle of Froeschwiller". I've toured the battlefield twice, the most recent being in March.

    Zündnadel - Pioniergewehr

Not sure if anyone here is interested in Zündnadelgewehre, but I posted this on WAF and thought I would also post it here. I have quite a few variants of the Zündnadelgewehr, which fit into my Franco-Prussian War collection, and have been fascinated by the improvements and modifications made to...

    The Kaiser’s Prize (Kaiserschiessabzeichen)

Great CDV Steve!! I have a question for all..... Could someone have earned, and worn, the award for 3 consecutive years while being in 2 different units?

Any fellow members here who enjoy a good Bier ?

Rediscovered my collection of Bierdeckels, most of which are from the 5 years I was stationed in Germany. Recent trips don't yield many more as my wife doesn't like it when I "pinch" them....

Here's my M1868 NCO Pickelhaube unit marked to the 89th. A French flea market dealer had it.

Any fellow members here who enjoy a good Bier ?

Alan, Davenport still has an active Schützenverein which was founded in 1862. It's not at the same location though. Schützen Park was founded in 1870, and the Turngemeinde was associated with them back then. They had a range, dance hall, etc. Now its just a 26-acre park, and its decline occurred...

Any fellow members here who enjoy a good Bier ?

Yes, it's the Lancaster Liederkranz. I also belong to the Reading Liederkranz. Both were founded in the late 19th Century; obviously as singing clubs. It's rather common here in Pennsylvania, but it wasn't like that in the German clubs in New Jersey. In NJ they were strictly social clubs. All...

Enlisted Shoulder Straps For M1867 Garde Tunic

I'm looking for either a pair of 3rd or 4th Garde Regiment EM (or 1-year volunteer) pair of shoulder straps to restore a M1867 tunic. A nice early hand-stiched pair.

    Kavalleriemuseum Vornholz

It appears they will only allow a group to visit by appointment. They make it clear on their website they want privacy. Thanks Alan.

Any fellow members here who enjoy a good Bier ?

A great beer I enjoyed while touring Burg Hohenzollern after the Münsingen show in March. And how to serve beer properly! A nice pub in Freiburg im Breisgau.

    regiment steins

I agree with the comments above. There are hundreds of Steins available in the US at any given time. Websites, shows, and auctions. IMO, lots of reasons them being less popular: modern collectors, lack of knowledge about pre-WWI history, few can read German, space, etc. I have several dozen but...
