    Pot metal?

These items, Death Skulls or Totenkopf's are soooooo widely copied that I would be very very very skeptical about this item. It is in the design of a early TK and in my opinion it looks like a really bad fake. The skull rules in popularity in the fake parts market unfortunately on Ebay in the...

BEWARE OF THIS SELLER, BIG FRAUD

I have contacted the seller the first time he posted this auction(my old auction) and of course I never heard back from him. As Philippe has noted, this helmet went to a buyer in Canada and the buyer currently has the helmet. If you bid on this helmet you will be throwing your money away! I...

that Vaterland bandeau is hideous!!! its got "chunky" all over it. :-& The skull, I guess is a good attempt at it but still obviously a fake. and the fur looks like a feather duster. His description is interesting, he never says that it is a original but he sure suggest around it being...

    Pickelhaube Project

Reproduction or original, the chin scales should be brass or "gold", not silver. that is if it is a pioneer helmet. original Baden Kokarden come around every once in a while on Ebay.fr but the chin scales will take a bit longer.

    Pickelhaube Project

Looks like a Baden helmet from the wappen imprint on the leather. Its definitely a Mannschaften helmet, with the liner and markings and quality, no mistaking that. Possibly a Pionier Pickelhaube with the silver visor trim. What is the date on the helmet? looks like 1916, if so then it should...

    Prussian Infantry Officer Schirmmütze M1915

Not to say your cap isn't a investment because it should be and I am sure you aren't interested in a investment  but the Weitze cap has one little detail that sets it apart from yours. The Weitze Schirmmütze has the crown monogram ownership of a General for Prinz Heinrich von Preußen!!! It...

    Prussian Infantry Officer Schirmmütze M1915

I am not sure if there is a definitive answer to this one, I have seen textbook examples with the mix of the "bulged" cockade and a not "bulged" cockade. Do you have 'The German Army in the First World War" book by Jurgen Kraus? Lots of examples of the mixed cockades. I wouldn't read to much...

    Prussian Infantry Officer Schirmmütze M1915

Very handsome cap in my opinion. Looks like a textbook example. As for that oval stain on the liner, that is most likely the grease from a German officers hair on top of his head. I have seen these faked before for the sake of authenticity but yours looks like the real deal grease. Its kind of...

    replica Tschapka and other helmets

I totally agree with that! I pay sometimes what some collectors might regard as "too much" or maybe for only a "investment" for a helmet. I do so because I want it in my collection, more than opposed to someone who doesnt want it in there collection as for more of a quick turn around. I keep my...

    replica Tschapka and other helmets

Although none of these replicas are completely perfect or deceiving enough, they do worry me a bit. It seems that with the popularity of collecting original items seems to grow and the price growing with it, that it opens the door of course to more and more and better and better fakes. I hope...

Württemberg EM M1915 Pickelhaube with feldgraues Krätzchen

Joe I think I figured this one out and I actually was able to do so with your website. The maker stamp seems to read J.M. ECKART, you have a version of it on your maker stamp list. The C looks like a O, that was throwing me off for a bit.

    Adler's Collection

Hey Karl Great stuff as usual! I would only ask one question, as you seem to have a great amount of everything pre 1918 Imperial Germany you seem to have no interest in period Schirmmütze and Krätzchen? Just curious! :-k I am always curious to who/why we collect what we do and what others dont...

Württemberg EM M1915 Pickelhaube with feldgraues Krätzchen

Hey Joe I can't read it. I have seen this similar mark on Wurt helms. The mark looks similar to this one.... http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Imperial/photos/G011466.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Go ahead and put it on the list. :thumb up:
