    Reserve infantry officer question.

I bought it for the metalwork, knowing there was a hole behind the wappen. The shell actually appears to be lacquered felt, very light, with composite/card/leather peaks. The leather reinforcing under the spike appears original (I had another like that a while back in the same colour). There...

    Reserve infantry officer question.

I usually take, take from the site asking (mostly) dumb questions, so It's nice to do something useful :) Cheers Jeremy

    Reserve infantry officer question.

Don’t buy it. I bought this as a parts helmet off German eBay a few weeks back and those parts are all sitting in a box in my workshop! I don’t know what this guy’s selling but it’s not the helmet in the pictures!!

    Brass Removable Officer’s Kugel

Good point Amy. I bought a complete spike off a French dealer once and he sent me a kugel and base by mistake - being curious I tried it on my helmets and the thread was too small for all of them. If only I’d known I should have kept quiet and kept it :)

    Brass Removable Officer’s Kugel

Hi all Can anyone help point me in the right direction for a removable Officers kugel in brass for a field artillery helmet? Thanks Jeremy

    Prussian M95 - JR74

That's very interesting Coert - thanks for pointing that fascinating article out. So the fact that the two digits are different shows that it started out as a I and then became a II at some time in its life. I'm assuming the loss of a leg on the wappen would have been far more serious than...

    Prussian M95 - JR74

Good shout Amy. I assumed that as the mounts were brass the owner of the haube just had a long face :)

    Prussian M95 - JR74

Hello all. This is my latest addition an M95 for JR 74 (1st Hannover). The shell and metalwork (apart from the wappen) seem to be in pretty good condition for a helmet that’s 120 years old. The liner is complete and still supple with no torn holes in the fingers and what looks like the...

    FAR 10/46 Wappen

This wappen is being sold by a local dealer and I was considering putting in an offer until I looked very closely. It looks a bit odd to me shape wise – do you think it's been bent out of shape? The reverse in particular looks a bit deformed. The issues I noticed were: Front - The LOO bandeau...

    Can't Stay Logged In

Hi Alan Yes, I’d tried that but it didn’t seem to working either. After I posted, I went into the User Control Panel and edited the Manage “Remember Me” login keys - there were dozens of them even though I use a max of 4 different devices. Since then it’s kept me logged in and this will test if...

    Can't Stay Logged In

Guys, did this ever get sorted for you? I have the same problem - have to log in most (but not all) times I access the site and generally when I type a post or a PM after I've logged in I have to log in again and it may (or may not) submit or delete it. As above I've taken to writing...

    Wappen Loop

Slow and predictable suits me just fine. Thanks for all you guidance gents. I’ll post some pics when I’m eventually done - it’s an OR haube from JR 74 dated 1899 on the rear peak. As far as I can tell everything is original down to the chinstrap and cockades. Wappen came with a missing leg :(...
