    Wappen Loop

Couldn’t agree more - it’s been a long 4 months! Quick question about the solder, must it be a butane torch or is an old school soldering iron good enough?

    Wappen Loop

Morning all. I’ve just bought a new wappen that is in great condition EXCEPT for the fact that one retaining loop is broken off. The loop was provided with the wappen but obviously needs to be reattached. Does anybody have any tips on how to do this without it looking terrible (bright solder...

    Need a shell

Yes, it's 900 Canadian but if the shell itself is an original, it's got a good shape. My main worry is the peak, should it not have been stitched and folded over?

    Need a shell

Hi all, thoughts on this please. I’m looking for a shell to display a new wappen. The shape of this seems good but a few questions – is the stitching of the peak correct? Scales seem ok for an OR helmet but mounts are wrong and feldzeichen is officer (repro?) Cheers Jeremy

    General Staff?

Afternoon all, this haube is currently on ebay Germany. Looking at it I was thinking it’s possibly a general staff helmet although the chinscales and at least one cockade are wrong. I asked the seller if they could take the wappen off but they said they were 80 years old and didn’t know how...

    1897 Officer's Shell

Hi All By any chance, does anyone have an 1897 officers pickelhaube shell hanging around that they're looking to move on? I've just bought a Hanoverian helm where all of the metal work is good but the shell is as soft as a deflated football :( and looks like it's been kicked around as much too...

    Lachmann for Sale

Hi all Following our very in depth discussions on the authenticity or otherwise of its liner, I've put my Lachmann up for sale on eBay (item number 133397395322) I assumed nobody here would be interested, but just in case it ends in 3 days. I use eBay's Global Shipping Programme so costs from...

    ‘Bandeau’ Pickelhaube

That’s great thanks Tony. This is the one I’m looking at although it’s nowhere near as pristine as yours :D

    ‘Bandeau’ Pickelhaube

Does anyone have a picture of the reverse of an officers ‘bandeau’ wappen showing how they are fixed? Thanks

    Bavarian Mystery Helmet

A new one for me is this Bavarian private purchase with the 1914 wappen. As we're all on lockdown over here I thought I'd take the opportunity to dismantle it and do some repairs around the chinscale knopfen mounts (I've already been pestering Brian - thanks :D ). Pretty standard mounted troops...

    M15 Lachmann Liner

Oh, and I almost forgot, lady and gentlemen thank you so much for all your help with this, the forum is the best. Oh, and by the way, does anybody want to buy a Lachmann with a replacement liner?

    M15 Lachmann Liner

Well, they do say you don't know what you've got until you dismantle it! Here are the pictures of the inside :x Oh well, at least the rest of the helmet is a Lachmann

    M15 Lachmann Liner

This is like an episode of CSI :D Checked it with the black light and all ok on the stitching where the outer band is joined together and nothing showed up where the liner is stitched to the band except a row of neat holes - no stitching that I could see :o Looks like the liner may have been...

    M15 Lachmann Liner

All Many thanks for all your input. Firstly I have to say - 20 JzP and Kurassier helmets Amy - wow! I must admit initially I thought the owner of my helmet might have used something on his hair but having seen John’s liner the colour and finish is so similar it may well have been some leather...

    ‘Bandeau’ Pickelhaube

Haha. Maybe I’ll just start with a wappen and leave it there :D

    M15 Lachmann Liner

Hi Philippe The slots seem to be the notches cut in the leather of the liner to allow it to curve upwards where the cutout in the leather band is by the chinstrap lugs. Looks like the liner has hardened and shrunk away from the shell a bit. Thanks Jeremy
