    How did they date pickelhauben?

Also wait I have one more question, did any pre m15 models like the m95 have no markings at all? Or did they just have regimental or date stamps or both

    How did they date pickelhauben?

Thank you! I’ve seen M1895 pickelhaubes dated 1916 and i’ve seen all these different locations for the dating stamps. Alright then, I think that answers my question. Thank you!

    How did they date pickelhauben?

What were the ways they dated pickelhauben? I see some stamps on the top of the underside of the helmet dome, i see some dates painted or edged into the rear visor with a makers stamp usually found near a regimental mark. I ask this to identify any possible “fake” dates. Thank you!

That spike on the helmet is also lighter than the rest I think it’s a reproduction therefore I will not be bidding on this helmet. A really nice Pickelhaube came on eBay for $400 it was a M1915 with no chinstrap or cockades but for that price it was good and someone b

    Gathering information for first find

I’ve always liked that the officers had red and green in the visors. I’m still a noobie in militaria collecting so perhaps someone else knows

    Gathering information for first find

You know on that website inter national military antiques there was a nice officer helmet for $495 but the liner was almost missing, just a few tongues in place and I was going to consider buying it but after 20 minutes it was gone 😂

    Gathering information for first find

That’s amazing! Looks like an officer’s helmet because i’m pretty sure the officers not only had chinscales the brass pieces along the strap but the spike was also decorated, which yours seems to be decorated. Did you have a relative that served in the prussian army or do you think they got it...

    Buying

What do you all think about this eBay helmet it looks good but it has 1896 or some time in the 1890’s on it and it it obviously a m1915 and is dated 1916 so it has two dates. Am I correct that they used to re use the helmet bodies...
