    Need help finding WWI German ski troops cap

    Does anyone know a collector who owns an original WWI German ski troops cap? I'm looking to get photos. Bavaria or Wurttemberg, does not matter as long as it's authentic. Thanks in advance for any leads.

    I think you are correct to be suspicious. The front detail is nice but I agree that the lines do indicate that this was cast. The lack of detail on the reverse side also indicate a cast. I'm sorry but I think it is a fake.

    Chip, I thought your hechtgrau felt cap had a one piece body? I haven't looked at the photo for a while. The cap was not factory made as a kaiserschutzen cap, but had a pocket sewn on later. When I got the cap all that remained of the feathers was the stems and a little white fluff. Yep...

    Here is another... Typical red wool regulation lagerkappe for prewar mounted troops...but this cap is dated 1916!
