    Question on Pickelhaube carcass

Remember folks, during wartime, some fireman's helmets were converted into military types. Seeing all of the fireman fitting holes filled makes me think this MAY have been one. I do NOT like the larger holes for the plate, which suggests it was replaced to make it 'more cool', but it makes me...

Help! Never Seen a Pickelhaube liké this...Fake or not????

If they're selling it as a German Pickelhaube, it's a terrible fake. If they're selling it as a costume piece from some obscure college production, then it's pretty cool. It would be great fun for Mardi Gras. You can hang beads from the wings!

IR88 Nassauisches nr2 haube, enlisted men.

Hopefully, if it was somebody from this site, they'll post photos of the back of the plate. That was my big concern. Not that I could bid on it. ;) Ron

IR88 Nassauisches nr2 haube, enlisted men.

I wonder if anybody who's bidding a LOT of money has asked for a photo of the back of the plate, since none are posted? No returns? Nope. ⛷️ Ron

Jäger zu Pferde troop helmet mod 1905

Nice looking helmet! My JzP has a similar form to it... I wonder whose head is round enough for it to fit comfortably? ;) (maybe they would 'adjust' them by giving them a squeeze between their knees.) Ron

IR88 Nassauisches nr2 haube, enlisted men.

I wondered about a couple of things regarding this helmet. I've always seen these with the bandaus soldered on. Did they stamp these in one piece? (I really don't know.) Also, should these little 'dots and boogers' be of concern? Of course, I've wondered about things before and been told I'm...

    Private purchase pickelhelm

One thing that caught my eye is the spike base, which appears to be of better quality than the EM 'rolled edge' type. So looking forward to seeing what more people have to say.

I agree with Lars. Get photos of the lithopanes. I take it for granted that you've looked at the sites dealing with spotting originals vs. reproductions of these. Ron

Is there something I'm missing here?

Yeah, I don't know. In just ONE auction, the cost of a Stuart tank went from $15,000 to over $100,000 because of two morons getting into a bidding war. The price never came down, now that I have the $15K to buy one. crap... So viel Mist.

    Pimple, zits, acne, Hoods?

Ebay... Whoever it was that programmed whichever translator program to see Pickelhaube as 'Pimple Hood' has a LOT of explaining to do. (mine translates it as 'spiked helmet' and only Pickel (pimple) and Haube (hood) as single words. Oh well.

    PzP

Nah, the U.S. Army can be a logistical / marking mess during transitions and change overs, not to mention figuring out how to standardize individual equipment wear in the unit. I can understand if a Dragoon unit is changed to JzP, but hasn't actually started, or understood, the mission yet, they...

    Brass 'Doughboy' helmet

David and Peter, It looks like a standard type helmet only of brass. No markings, no numbers, no trim (the first ones didn't have trim either, but I don't really think that applies here). It could've been for factory work, but I really can't say. It displays nice and is interesting to look at...

    Brass Veteran's Parade 'Doughboy' Helmet

Not what I usually collect, but too interesting to let go for under $10. Solid brass, veteran's 'parade helmet' from the 1920's (??). The thing that interested me most was the other helmets I've seen like this have the chin straps riveted to the sides of the helmet above the flare. This is the...
