Hi Steve, Not collect them as such, but as I collect militaria based on regimental association I do have one of F.R. 39. I bought mine for just over 100 euro, and I'm thinking that when the soldiers bought theirs it must have cost them a lot more, relative to their income. Regards, Lars

Welcome to the forum :), I agree with Wojtek's and Brian's comments above. The holes for the Wappen seem to have been moved and new grommets put in, so this might be an older helmet that has been reused during the First World War, maybe even reduced in height (that might be visible underneath...

Thank you for posting the pictures of the inside, it doesn't look like the helmet has been reduced in height (as you would see the stitching lines of the old Ohrenleder below the current stitch line). Regards, Lars
