    Named Picklehaube help

Sure! Here is the guy, Leutnant der Reserve Clemens Oskar Johann Friedrich Deppe, born on the 25.6.93 in Rokycan / Böhmen / Österreich-Ungarn (today Rokycany / Czech republic). He was a mechanical and electrical engineering student and lived in Münich. He moved in a few Fußartillerie units...

    Regimental history IR75

Hi, Sorry for the "expensive" link. I just put the first link I saw but you will find this book easily for 30-40 €. There are no double markings on our helmets. The superior mark is the unit marking J.R.75 and the one under is for the first Bataillon: I.B.75 Look at the "J" of JR75 and at the...

    Help Me Identify This Pickelhaube

Hi, Such prices are H. Weitze prices ;) I think 1700-1900 would be OK from private to private. And one more thing: this special liner with small holes at the front are well known for French collectors to be post war...Specially made for vet ceremonies, processions or many other post war...

    Help with faded markings

This is THE question (y) Simply to know which AK BA first issued this helmet, BA VI (or VII) or BA XV for the JR138 (XXI AK) in peace time. If the liner is black, it would be very possible that this helmet first was at the JR138 and then moved 1916 to the BA VI or VII. If the liner is brown...

Bavarian pickelhaube just purchased help with markings

John, yes, the Pickelhaube was worn till the end of war in the Ersatz-Bataillonen where the new recruits were trained or wounded and ill recruits were for recovery before they were sent again to the front. And something else: the Pickelhaube still was a regular part of the uniform. So each...

Bavarian pickelhaube just purchased help with markings

Try tu use gemini as IA. But this IA even is confusing sometimes... There are all in all 7 double pages for this guy in the Münich Kriegsstammrollen and they are giving all the same informations but completed in time: Chris, the bavarian Kriegsstammrollen are not always perfect, as the...

Bavarian pickelhaube just purchased help with markings

Chris, Pickelhauben have been worn a very long time, often till the end of 1916, and sometimes longer in some units. The M16 was first introduced february 1916, with only very little number, only for the guys who were immediatly in the first lines. It is written in a few Regiments-Geschichte...

Bavarian pickelhaube just purchased help with markings

Chris, yes, this letter could be the first name initial, but it is here definitly not a "M" for Michael. It could also stay for something else....But what? I took the time to surch in the bavarian Kriegsstammrollen all the Holzmann who were in the KB FAR 4. I only could find those two guys...

Bavarian pickelhaube just purchased help with markings

The name seems to be Holzmann. On the left of this name, it seems to be Kan. (Kanonier) and then a letter? To be confirmed with maybe a better pict of the whole inside of front visor. There was a Kanonier Michael Holzmann in the KB FAR4, in the Leicht-Munition-Kolonne of the I. Abteilung...

    Anyone have a Bavarian Rangliste?

Here is the page issued from the Kriegsranglisten. This guy was in the KB FAR3 (1899), then 1902 to an Artillerie und Ingenieur Schule, 1903 to a Schießlehrkurs, 1905 to an Equitationsanstalt (horse riding school), 1909 to the 4. Chevauleger Regiment, 1910 to the 8. Chevauleger Regiment and to...

    "Festungs-Pionier Bataillon Nr. 23" Pickelhaube

This is a very good and scarce one. Pickelhauben from the east regions of the german empire are pretty hard to find, because they mostly were engaged on the russian front. I particularly love them and I own three of them. - A JR45 (Insterburg and Darkehmen) marked JR45 and BA.I and dated 1915...

M95 Saxon 12th Field Artillery Pickelhaube

To my opinion, the name is not Lengendorf but Langendorf. There is only one guy with this name in the saxon Verlustlisten in a artillery unit, Alfred Langendorf who was in the 5. (F) Batterie of the saxon Feld-Artillerie-Regiment 245 formed on the 28.3.15 near Rozoy (Aisne) from the former III/...

    3. Oberschlesisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 62

I think I can read from the left to the right: 3B - 10.C - 1 2 - 62.R This is an old M91. The 10C is matching with the 3B. Further, the 1 and 2 could be the Garnituren downgrading, as on one of my helmet (most of the time, one can see I II III and so on, but rarely: 1 2). Philippe
