Very nice Coert! My comment about square nuts on an OR’s wappen comes from Tony S. He told me that years ago. Another comment from him about officer wappen is that soldered prongs instead of screw posts shows mid war production. You may already know this but we can share the information here.

Buying any wappen with the correct original square brass nuts is always a win! 👍 Also any OR wappen with nuts probably indicates that it is older than 1895. A 95 should have soldered loops.

So, just based on my experience....the regular Prussian Infantry M15 is the most common. Anything beyond that (M15 second tier) would include Baden, Bavarian, Saxe and Garde. Forming a third tier, we get into the very rare M15's, for example Oldenburg, Wurttemberg, Hesse, Brunswick, Saxe Duchies...

In my opinion, it is a Wurttemberg fire officer helmet that is shown in the period photo. This is also the helmet shown in Rkinkade's left hand picture.

Once again copying my longtime friend T Schnurr, I use coffee cans to support my helmets. Tony painted his back in the day but I being less artistic and lazy just leave mine as is. My rationale is that most of the can is covered by the helmet so why bother?
