Bavarian GFM epaulettes on the Helmut Weitze site

I went there to find it. For us in the USA, about $55 for the book and $74 to ship. Wow.

Bavarian GFM epaulettes on the Helmut Weitze site

I look forward to other members’ input on these as well. Rupprecht is of great interest to me.

What’s cool is the Tschako came with its cloth cover and in the carrying case.

A Bavarian Jager and a Baden Artillerie

Not recent finds but rather purchased at the 2023 Show of Shows and in the condition I like.

Opinions Mixed On Welsh Guards Now Being Allowed To Sport Facial Hair

We aren't there in the USA yet, but who knows -- with them lowering standards to attract recruits. The Army turns away at least a third of the recruits due to obesity, drug use, etc. I expect they will allow full tattoo "sleeves" before long. I am getting old, I guess. For 20 years, I had to...

    The Kaiser’s Prize (Kaiserschiessabzeichen)

According to the internet … “During World War I, a German army machine gun company typically consisted of around 150 to 200 men. This included gunners, ammunition carriers, support personnel, and officers.” I don’t know about pre-war.

    Bavarian Plumes

Much appreciated. It does raise the question … where did the Germans get the buffalo hair? Imported from the USA?

    Bavarian Plumes

I am confused about horse, Yak, and buffalo hair. Were these various types of hairs used in the bushes at the discretion of the maker? Or were certain types of hair supposed to be used with certain Regiments. I am anxious to find some bushes (with Trichters) for my Bavarian helmets as well but...

The ashtray is of Nuremberg. Scenes of various landmarks -- before they were destroyed in WWII. I have been to Nuremberg, though the rebuilt buildings are nothing like their pre-war versions.

This Bavarian helmet just came in today and by the same company … M. Koltsch in Munich … that made a gorgeous Chevaulegers uniform I bought at Show of Shows. Normally I collect excellent to mint condition but the aging and toning of this piece really appealed to me and it also being untouched.

Bavarian Officers FAR Helmet with parade plume, sash and gloves

Beautiful Feldartillerie plumes. I’m looking for one of those myself. The red is gorgeous.
