    Saxon Ersatz spike helmet.

Hello, This looks like a typical what is known as a "made in the United Kingdom" felt helmet with a leather edge all the way around the edge of the helmet. Sometimes they have an area on them that looks like it got wet at some point of time. We also sometimes see these with bogus ink stamps...

On Hold: Prussian Guard enlisted helmet M95

Hi Philippe, Thanks for your nice words and explanation, I appreciate it! I would like to step aside from the mindset that every helmet in Germany was used during the wartime. Were all older helmets (even M95 helmets) used in the war time? What if this was a helmet that was sold to a soldier...

On Hold: Prussian Guard enlisted helmet M95

Hello Gino, Thanks for your kind words, I appreciate it. Every year since I first began selling on eBay in 1998, July was always the worst month to try to sell anything, followed by December and January as the 2nd & 3rd slowest sale months. There are a lot of other factors to consider right...

On Hold: Prussian Guard enlisted helmet M95

Yes, thanks for your comments, Philippe. "The underside of the back visor does have a dark area. The finish on the underside of the back area is very finely done, and has an almost "waxed" appearance and texture to the underside of the back visor. I say this because it is very similar to what I...

    LEIB GARDE HUSAREN

I agree with Jeff, it looks legit and obviously private purchase piece, so no marks, as Jeff has said. Helmut Weitze has a Wachmeister for this regiment, dated 1888, on this past Friday's update.

Kraftfahrer Battalion M95 pickelhaube, very nice K.B. issue & BAG markings,

Last photos: This photo was taken before I worked on the visor trim a bit, and it now fits better and more flush to the edge of the leather visor and seems to stay in place. I also added a domed split brad to the viewer's right side of the end of the visor trim piece, as it was...

Kraftfahrer Battalion M95 pickelhaube, very nice K.B. issue & BAG markings,

More photos: I believe this was the arsenal plug that had popped out during shipment to Brian, and he re-glued it back into place, and put a leather patch over the inside of the helmet 2-plugged holes.

Kraftfahrer Battalion M95 pickelhaube, very nice K.B. issue & BAG markings,

I've decided to offer this helmet up for sale, since my M15 Ulan tschapka and the M95 Guard helmet do not seem to have any interest here, unfortunately. To quote Brian: "This is an extremely rare helmet from the “Motor Vehicle Driver" Battalion. Brian did another expert re-stitching job for me...
