Identification help needed with shell case

Can anyone help me identify this shell case? I’ve not seen another like it and research efforts are getting me knowhere. It measures approximately 119mm in length by 77mm at the open end. On the base, it has Krupps’ mark, is dated 1910, and also has a letter “B” and number 40. Some photos:

    Canadian War Trophies

A couple of days ago, I stumbled upon an interesting booklet in an antique shop. It’s a “catalogue” of the items on display in a travelling show that exhibited war trophies to the public, right after the war. Fascinating stuff!

    Iron Cross - genuine?

I’ve been offered this FWW Iron Cross. While it looks genuine to me, I know very little about these and so would appreciate knowing the group’s opinion about its authenticity.

    Photos from family album

These photos were found in an old album of family photos, at a local antique store. I hope they’re of interest to the group!

    Cabinet card

Picked up this hand-tinted photo cabinet card today, a chance discovery in a pile of unrelated ephemera in an antique shop. Appears to me to be a young Prussian kurassier officer?

    Paperweight

I found this item (paperweight?) at a yard sale held by the family of a man who had been a fighter pilot in the German Luftwaffe during WW2. I don’t know if the family has military history before the Second World War. What do you think - fantasy piece, or something original from WW1 or earlier?

    Prussian Kurassier kokarde - genuine?

What do you think about this kokarde? It’s made of thin, stamped metal. The white paint is kind of a creamy colour. Original, or reproduction?

    Kokarden - real or repro?

What’s the verdict on these cockades - real, or reproduction? They’re stamped metal, with the Prussian one attracting a magnet (steel?) and the Reichs kokarde not attracting a magnet (aluminum?). Both measure exactly 48mm in diameter. The holes in the centre were punched out from the backside...

    Felt artillery helmet

What do we think of this one? I have the chance to purchase it but wanted to get the group’s opinion of it before I tool the plunge…

Auction lot - Two wappen and…?

This evening I won a lot described as “Hat badges, etc.” in a local auction. As you’ll see, it included two Prussian infantry / artillery wappen, plus a third mystery item. Now, I’m pretty sure this triangular-shaped third item is unrelated to the wappen, and has nothing to do with pickelhauben...

Named M16 Helmet - Segt. Meissen?

This M16 helmet has a name written inside, twice. Would you agree that the name is “Segt. Meissen”? I’d dearly love to find out who this soldier was, and if he survived the war. Without a first name, is this a possibility?

    Bavarian telegraph troops belt buckle

This unusual belt buckle came from the family of a driver in the Canadian Field Artillery. He went to France in the middle of 1918 and came home in the spring of 1919. I have his name and regimental number, and a handful of other souvenirs he collected during the war. I understand this is the...

20th (2nd Württemberg) Uhlans "King William I" stein

I’ve had this stein, apparently a souvenir of a soldier in the 20th (2nd Württemberg) Uhlans "King William I" regiment for years, now, but have never been sure if it was genuine or not. Having found it at an antique shop, priced at just $20 Canadian, it seems almost too good to be true that it...

    Seeking kokarden for Kurassier metalhelme

I’m looking for 63mm Reich and Prussian kokarden with the larger cutouts for the M91 chinstrap posts, for a Kurassier lobsterback helmet. If you have such a cockade, or can tell me where I might purchase one or both of these parts, I would be very grateful if you did so!

    Battle of Mons Lobsterback helmet

Stumbled across an article about this helmet, which is said to have been worn by the first German soldier shot and killed by a British soldier in the First World War: This is a Kürassier helmet, if I’m not mistaken? The story is the German cavalryman was an officer, but I don’t believe this...

    Hope I didn’t make a mistake!

First, thanks for adding me to the group! Now, I stumbled across the helmet in the attached pics near the end of an auction. I didn’t have much time for research but I decided to take a punt, and won. I’m almost afraid to ask, is this helmet good, or did I buy a dud? These photos are the...
