Am I wrong or are there a lot of bogus listings in the UK? [-(

You are absolutely right and therefore I will never buy anything that originates from the UK through ebay :-P

Edwin

It is sad – but it does seem to be a trend. I remember visiting a Militaria shop there in Nottingham and the proprietor tried to sell me a real piece of crud many years ago. There are so many nice collectors there and it seems as though there are many unscrupulous dealers/sellers. Said :-x

Hopefully in some cases, it's just a lack of expertise, but in most it seems to be a deliberate attempt to sell fakes as originals. 21 bids when I looked at it, somebody is getting suckered in. I didn't look at the return policy, but I would guess that whoever buys this one will think it's an original until the sad truth comes around.

Gents, I live in the uk and you are right it seems to be a minefield here especially on e-bay, this seller and some others are known to me I have seen them peddle their faked and doctored items for a while now but we also have a lot of eastern Europeans living here and they can bring their fake items over and set up a uk account.
I tend to hunt for mine in France or Germany but of course they are there too.
I made a point of buying my M16 Cammo helmet from the U.S.A and happily paid the import duty as it was right and reasonably priced.

It is just sad. Sales originating there have an automatic red flag. It is very hard to find a good one emanating from the United Kingdom. 8-[

This UK "fake trend" has been going on for years. Remember the infamous felt shakos with the leather trim round the visors? I got sucked into buying one before they were discussed on the forum years ago. We know they came from the UK in the 70's. I would never buy from the UK.
