Commemorating the Battle of the Silver Helmets. Halen. East of Belgium.
111 years.
12th August 1914.
Going trough the lists of the Belgian and the German fallen....recalling their names and Regiments and sometimes the Eskadrons they were charging in. Some died the day before the battle; in a skirmish when on patrol. Some died in hospital after the battle...
-on the different memorials-in Belgium and Germany: Mecklenburg and Prussia.
-the gravemarkers on the Belgian Military Cemetery in Halen.
-in the register and lay-out of the former Ehrenfriedhof Nr.223 at the battlefield site in Halen. IJzerenwinning farm.
-Major Victor Baron Digeon von Monteton-
-The wife of the fallen Regimentskommandeur of 2.Großherzogliches Dragoner Regiment Nr.18 came to Halen in March 1915. Traveling to Belgium; in person she came to identify her late husband amongst the fallen in a massgrave. Repatriating his remains to Karlsruhe.
-on the gravemarkers at Deutscher Soldatenfriedhof Vladslo, Plot 9

Standing in front of the Kameradengrab. Looking for and finding their names on the bronze plates. The name of Major Victor Baron Digeon von Monteton is there.
The final restingplace for those men that could not be identified.
