I want to show You some photos wich I took of relic 4 Gren.Rgt. pickelhaubes with "1626" ribbon
This one was found on Tannenberg Battlefield by my friend 10 or more years ago .

that is outstanding to see witch impression the plate left in the ubersug
i guess he was pretty pleased when he found these at the battle ground
if only relic's could talk

Many thanks for this post of the G R 4
photos per my request .
I did not remember that it had already been
10 years ago when I first saw them .
I normally do not care for dug items
but this a whole different thing .
This would be great to have in any collection.
The first 12 Prussian Grenadier Regiments are
among my favorites .
I try to collect both the officers and enlisted
men helmets , with special interest in
G R 1 ; 4 ; 7 & 9
I like both the old style FWR eagle
and the "new wide winged " eagle
I find the enlisted helmets harder to find than the officers .
The G R 4 enlisted wide wing eagle with " 1626 "
to me is the hardest one to find

I also prefer well marked OR's (enlisted) helmets to officer's. Naturally, there are more officer survivors because they were private purchase and could be taken home. Excellent post. :thumb up:
