I was initially very attracted to this helmet for restoration. Members may not be that familiar with helmets from the First Schleswig-Holstein War 1848-1851 but are still interested in acquiring. However, here the body looks like a late Prussian kurassier helmet although it has a back ridge possibly even a reproduction? Holes for a standard spike base are present. The spike and cruciform base is badly mounted but looks original and is very unique and valuable. The mounting screws also look original. The chin scales look like those for a Baden helmet from this same time period and are also very valuable. The roundels are questionable. Too bad, complete helmets of this time period can be very expensive and good restoration projects rarely come up.
