1867 Prussian Metal Pickel

Overall, looks OK Al, may have had some straighening to the shell, but ask for photos of the screw posts for the chinscales. Those look a bit shiny?

Multiple dents on the shell. This can be fixed though if you know the right person to do it (and there are not many...). Chinscale attachments are not original. No big deal. I am not sure about chinscales themselves.
Nice helmet.

A good source for having dents removed from metal helmets are companies that repair musical instruments. Many of them have the ability to remove dents from light gauge metal.

What I don't understand, is why are there dents and ripples/ My M1842 weighs as much as a case of beer (to use a comparative my friends here will understand).

Really, the one here is very thick steel. I think I would be hard pressed to dent it with a hammer?

Perhaps the one on ebay is not an issued example?
