Hello everyone,

Found a 1918 Husaren busby for sale/trade and I am hopeful for opinions as to it's authenticity. Can anyone please help? The seller is named Ron Distelhorst.

Thank you,

Lurch

I think that I would be very careful with that Felt Ersatz Busby. First off,
the cords are not original; originals are squared. On an original Pelzmütze the cords go through two string loops, on that one, the loops themselves are made from the same, fat, incorrect rounded cord. The Fatherland Bandeau on originals, is quite thick with a wide edge, has a has incredibly crisp detail, and a pebbled background. This one looks smooth and very thin? Rounded fingers on the liner are 'supposedly acceptable on original Ersatz, but you can still see the light color along the cut edges on the leather liner. After 90+ years of dirt and dust, I have never see that on an original liner on any helmet.

At any rate, this has been for sale on that site for ages. if it was good, it would not have lasted a week.
