Not exactly a latest find, as I bought this a couple of years ago from a distinguished member of the forum. However, I haven't posted it before, so I thought I would respond to Brian's urging us to add posts at this difficult time. One of my favourite helmets!

The helmet is clearly marked 2ElsPB19 1904 The initials EAM (possibly EHM) are inked on the other side of the rear visor. Presumably the wearer. Is there any way of identifying the soldier? Chinstrap is a good reproduction.

As far as I know, the unit pre-WW1 was garrisoned at Strasbourg as part of XV Corps. If anybody can add any information, I'd be grateful.

Very nice. That 2Els is unique, usually on any I have seen it’s PB and number. Great helmet!

The 19th Pioneer Bn. was formed in 1893. On 27 January 1902 it was given the name 2nd. Alsatian Pioneer Bn. Number 19.
