2-Cabinet photos of Graf von Waldersee. Each image has the date 1900 embossed into the lower right area of the photo.

These were taken approximately four years before he died in 1904.

Both images are sized approximately 4" wide x 5 3/4" tall. The over all dimension of the cardboard cabinet card is 4 1/4" wide x 6 5/8" tall.

Please note that my camera flash created a white glare spot on the front of each of the two real photo images of von Waldersee.

Hi Alan,
I've sent you a PM on WAF, as I could not immediately figure out how to do that here.
Kind regards,
Sandro

According to my information Alan was absent until friday, so it might take a few days to get a response.

Both great photos

It looks exactly like the overseas cap worn by the Leibgendarmerie on the Kaiser’s visit to the Levant in 1898

Thanks for that, the only headgear that comes to my mind from that visit is those Pith helmets with the huge capes and neck guards.

I'm not familiar with what the Leibgendarmerie were wearing would you have any other photos. That is an awesome looking cap I would love to see the full uniform in color. Thanks John Josef

John Josef,

The new Leibgendarmerie uniforms issued in 1898 were khaki, with brown leatherwork, the overseas cap pictured was for the 2nd Zug, (Kaiserin). The 1st Zug (Kaiser) had blue trim. Here is a photo of the new uniforms for the trip to the Levant. The gent on the left with the overseas cap is from the 1st Zug, the gent on the right from the 2nd Zug.

Hi Alan, I haven't received your answer to my PM yet.
Let me know please.
Zeb

My apology Zeb. I was away from home and my desktop computer from early Tuesday until Friday.

Sandro did ask first. Another person here asked also, and they are 2nd in line. You were the 3rd person to inquire about these 2-Cabinet Photos.

The postage price to Europe is expensive because the weight of the 2-cabinet photos inside of a cardboard photo mailer envelope weighs over 3 ounces, so the post office has to charge "package" rate, even though it is a technically a flat cardboard envelope.

Thanks for your interest, I appreciate it. I will contact you if this does not work out with the first two people who inquired here.

Best Wishes,

Alan

I believe that the man with the sword facing to the viewer's left who is in the front row on the far right side is wearing one of these caps.

Thanks for posting this information and images John!

Best Wishes,

Alan
