Thanks Russ

Funny looking helmet. Did you get any photos of the inside? Have you contacted him? As usual the inside, extra holes, and back of fontplate can tell the story. His helmets always seem put together.

I' ll request more pics and share with you what I get. My collecting focus is on kurassier and metalhelms, esp. the earlier models. Looks like a model1867 but with no step visor. These were reworked and upgraded for reissue at later dates as you know. Hope he sends good pics.

Hey Russ and Chris,
When buying a high end item from a seller half way around the world (in Russ' case anyway) it is important to deal with reputable dealers. This seller has several red flags (not counting the bad experiances had by other members of this forum). This seller hides his bidders, his feed back is also hidden to a degree, that is, you can not see what items he has gotten positive feed back on. The only items you can see in his feedback are the ones he bought. This seller may offer a good item from time to time, but you need to proceed with extreem caution.

My problems with this helmet are:

1) No interior shots...make you raise your eyebrows right off the bat.

2) The wappen looks pretty new compared to the other brass on the helmet.

3) The spike mount bolts look huge. I have never seem them that high.

4) The neckguard plates look uneven, however this may be a result of the helmet being compressed which if you look at the spike mount it seems sunk in a bit.

5) Would like to see if there are issue stamps under the chinscale.

6) The spike doesn't look so hot.

May or may not be real...

As Gus stated this dealer has a bad rap . He puts up helmets and there is usually something wrong with them ,or they have been messed with to look like a high end item.
Wappen looks like a bad repop.
