Does anybody know what guns the 63rd field artillery regiment used, im guessing the 7.7 96 and the 7.7 m16. Thank you.

Hey Michael
That would be a good guess, but I would suspect that there might be a greater variety of guns, think some Arty Regts. manned Minenwerfer too. I am unable to find any refferance that gives spacifics on armament, if you find one, be so kind to post it.

I would suggest Hermann Cron's "Imperial German Army 1914-1918 : Organization, Structure, Orders-of-Battle".

His section on Artillery goes into a good deal of detail as to weapon distribution. Knowing where the 63rd was engaged (theatre) and at what period, this work should be able to give you a sketch of what they looked like.

Hello Michael: FAR63 also had a howitzer battery. This battery would have probably used any or all of the following 10.5cm light howitzers:
Model 98/09 light field howitzer
Model l.F.H. 16
Model l.F.H. Kp.

Now where all regiments organized that way? Where there also just heavy artillery regiments? I know the Germans used naval guns, did sailors operate those or did artillery men?

Thanks once again.

Not sure about the 63rd myself but I personally use the FK16 7,7cm pictured here. It is sitting next to my barn:

And here is a shot of it before restoration:
