6th KR nickname?

I thought I'd posted this. If I did, I'll get rid of this one.
On a forum, somebody offered this information:

"Cohen's Company" was what the Prussians called this Regt (6KR)..Almost all officers and troopers were Jewish"

I didn't know of this nickname, just the "Kaiser Nikolas... etc". Anybody else know of this? To me, it sounds like an Irish name, so strikes me as odd. Looking for some info.

As to this being true or not, I have no idea, but it would stand to reason that there were nick names for some of the regiments. Both the British and US Armies have regimental nick names (US has nick names for some of its Divisions as well), why not the German? I know that nick names are not unknown in German culture.
It would be actually interesting to know the nick names of some of the regiments.

Husar regiments 6 and 10, which wore green attilas with yellow cords, were nicknamed for this reason "Spinach and eggs"...

Excellent! But I did not invent anything. JzP were nicknamed as "Talmi-Kuerassiere", i.e cheap- or fake- or imitation cuirassiers.

The reference Militarische Kopfbedeckungen der Kaiserzeit by Reiner Herrmann contains a listing of Regiments to include state, garrison, army corps, year raised and a partial listing of regimental nicknames. There is no nickname listed for Cuirassier regiment 6 but there is a note indicating that cuirassiers were typically referred to as "Mehlsacke"

It is possible that not all nick names would be listed, as some are not flattering to the unit. I would think the name that started this was not meant as a compliment. Then there are official nick names and unofficial ones.

It didn't sound complimentary to me, but I really don't know.

Mehlsacke took me a while... flour sack. Yes agreed, due to the uniform color (glad I never had to wear something like that!)

I, once upon a time, had a white uniform I had to wear. It looked good when you first got dressed. You were always aware of it being white and made sure you didn't do anything to get it dirty. You had to be very careful about what I ate or drank while in that uniform.

This from the 1914 Prussian Army list. Of the twenty five officers listed every single one without exception is from the Prussian nobility including four Counts and three Barons!

Thank you R1. I had forgotten about this but you are correct. This book lists regiment nicknames (Spitznamen), but there is no entry for KR6. It says that Garde Dragoner regiment 1 was nicknamed "Regiment Cohn", or "Lerchen" (larks).

You're most likely correct. I just tossed this into a translator since my German sucks. I was wondering what that meant, being 'hung up'.
