7. Thuringisches Inf. Regt. 96 / II Batl. Reuss

Thanks
Inside the helmet written in pencil is the date 8 / 10 / 13
I think that is the date that the helmet was fabricated
No doubt with that late date the helmet had only been worn a few times

Wonderful and rare helmet in exceptional condition. One of the longer spike I have never see.

👏Rare, and in perfect condition ...(y)

On the other hand, the officer's stars are added, non-conforming parts. This helmet is an additional “fancy” helmet (Einjährig-Freiwilliger) enlisted for one year and not an officer's helmet. You therefore need non-slotted head screws (rivet type) and nuts. But it is an easily rectifiable detail. .
Unlike the officer's helmet, such a helmet was not authorized in service, for parade, and in combat. It is a ceremonial "troop" helmet.

I have never removed anything from the helmet since the day that I got it .To me it all looks
"untouched " for years .The chin strap is high quality leather .I don't know how the leather
would react to what it would take to remove it to see the back of the kokard .To me it
is not worth the risk .Why do you ask ?

I am able to see a small part of the back of the kokard without removing it .
It does appear to be a solid brass looking color on the back .
