8th Ersatz Division

Gus weren't you looking up something on the eighth Ersatz division and we could not find it. It became the 243rd division on 1 January 1917. All of the modern English references talk about the 243rd division not the eighth Ersatz. At least I think that was the division you are looking for. :cheers:

Thanks Joe, I have some correspondence from the great uncle of a friend, who served with the 80th ersatz Batalion. Heinrich Kuhl was captured by the French in Pristerwald on 15. May 1915, before the 243rd divison was formed. but that gives help in tracing any history. I cannot believe how much your mind can remember, I have to wear my belt buckle upside down just to remember my name in the morning.
