A rare pickelhaube cover

A few months ago I could acquire this rare beast. It's a cover for a Saksen Grenadier Regt. Nr. 101... I have to admit that covers are not my main interest, but in this case I could not resist. As you can see, this rather strange cover is made wit only 4 very tiny ventilation holes and it has only two hooks in front and rear as well.

I think it's a very early variation but if someone can add some extra information, I'll be very happy.

This is the same type of cover as I recently picked up.

Pretty nice you two! Cold weather adaptation?

No. Early model.

Look at the lack of ventilation for this model. There was apparently an early time when there were red numbers but the spike was not attached with four pieces of material. Clearly from a ventilation perspective, this is unacceptable.
