This guy must have some secret knowledge. Also the badge is only $775. At least he's sharing. :sign6: :sign6:
It looks like Alan is trying to steal this badge for much less than the seller can get out of it at private auction, and having the cross broken off the orb makes it even more valuable, as that means that it was usen in one of the non-Christian regiments. That would explain why I only got $25 out of the one I sold at SOS two years ago, it still had the cross.

It's a helmet plate from those stealth sniper regiments for sure. Because the cross was broken off, the enemy lost his aiming point... When you were wearing one of these special plates on your helmet, you were as good as invisible...
It's also been said that the Kaiser himself invented this feature and that he always had one in his luggage... just for protection in dangerous situations...
And you guys think this is expensive???

The problem I see with this rare Wappen is that anyone can make a fake by removing the cross from a normal plate, so unless this Wappen is attached to a properly marked helmet that can be atributed to a stealth sniper, then there is no way to know that it is real.

It burned so it does not count. A little piece of trivia -- my mommy was actually there she saw it all happen -- so does that mean that she used to own this plate? Was she part of the stealth sniper regiment? She is 90 now so maybe she will remember -- oh yeah it has to be a non-Christian stealth sniper regiment.

So, I guess this guy doesn't know much about history, because he forgot all about Hindenburg.... as has already been pointed out.
