As most of us know Minnesota Slim (James) has a peculiar liking for all things Bavarian so, when I received an email from Tony Schnurr giving me a link to this Ebay listing last week, I immediately thought of him. Tony said that this was a "must have " helme as it was so reasonably priced, in excellent condition and located in Canada, so no customs issues. Slim and others at the SOS had basically wiped me out financially and even at that I left owing money to a friend. Going there is like walking into a Vegas casino...you leave counting yourself lucky to have enough money to get home and worry about paying next months bills. Anyway, thanks to Tony's prodding, I bit the bullet and hit "buy" on this lovely helmet which came from Quebec. Thanks T!

This is a vulcan fibre private purchase helmet which could have been worn by any Bavarian mounted unit.....cavalry, feld artillery, train. The spike unscrews for a parade trichter and each of those units mentioned wore the trichter. It is in perfect condition, except for a few splits in the silk lining and some marks on the sweat band, it has been worn.

The wappen on this helme is massive as can be seen...screw posts and and wing nuts secure the wappen to the size 59.5 cm shell. Note the convex scales which indicate a mounted unit.

No slider vent on the rear spine. FYI the helme and fittings are not tilted, this effect was produced by putting the helme on a wine glass here on a windy day. I could have waited for calmer conditions but as a typical collector, I wanted to get this posting on the forum.
