It's a pity about the condition, because it appears to be an original Ersatz Küraßier helmet.

This is mine:

I agree with Tony, nice helmet you have there! I almost got one from Joe at House of Swords decades ago, but it sold before I could call him.
Personally, I think the one in the auction is a standard M15 with a separate, rather than stamped in, spike base and is way too rusty to restore nicely. It will always be pitted and damaged. But that's just MY opinion and it doesn't count for beans if somebody wants the helmet.

Hmmm! I think Ron may have made the correct call after all. The more I look at the eBay helmet, the more I think it is a standard M15 Küraßier.

It'd take a lot of elbow grease to restore it. It's a shame it's $350 instead of $50.
Just a little sand blasting and some zinc plating...

Chas- great helmet, I also did not know you had that one!!!

That is one that has been long on my want list.

Your looks steller!

James

Thanks, James! Unfortunately (but not surprisingly), the helmet has leather issues, and the Reichs Kokarde is either a repaint or a repro. Actually, both you and Tony have seen it before. This was the original discussion (and, you can see why I don't dare touch that chinstrap).
