about Baden Pickelhauben Rgt.109 Off.

In your opinion, what is the difference in attribution between these two helmets?

A Baden L G R 109 officer will have a rounded visor
the chin strap will be flat scales
I think that neither of the ones that you show are 109 helmets
the silver one I think would be General staff or a al suite
the gilt helmet would be a Baden General
Here is my 109

For what I can find, regulations are;
-Helm des Grossherzogs und der Prinzen des Zäringer Hauses;
golden attributes , chin strap with rounded scales and square visor.
- Kriegsminiterium seems to have a similar description.
-Flügeladjutant seiner Koniglichen Hoheit des Grossherzogs;
silver attributes, chin strap with rounded scales and square visor.
- Generalstab, seems to have a rather similar descrition.

I agree with Steve.
Rule of thumb:
--general's helmet = officer's helmet of the Leib-Garde-Grenadier Regiment, 1st Garde-Zu-Fuß Regiment, Leib-Infanterie-Regiment 115 Hesse, etc... ( with the exception of Saxony) .

BUT with
---Cruciform base.
---Square visor.
---Fluted tip.
Then :
---Gold/Silver Difference = General, ‘A la suite’, Flugeladjutant, Staff Colonel with rank of General.
And of course, the sovereigns, princes, grand dukes etc... also wore the Land general's helmet.
