Howdy all! I hope everyone is well!

Well I came across this outstanding piece last week and just knew I had to have it! A lovely perfectly conditioned all matching Mauser 71/84 rifle dated 1888.

This is one of my dream rifles, I’ve been hunting for one for sometime now, most of the ones I tend to see went for ridiculous prices or were in poor shape. The price was far too attractive to pass on as well as the condition.

Overall I’m in love with this piece, I’m fascinated by its history and design and I’m so happy to share with all of you! Thank you for taking the time to read this!

All the best,

Very lovely piece.
I do like a good display piece, but I always prefer to see a firearm being used as a firearm. It's too bad that the brass for these is getting hard to come by for a decent price.
At any rate, congratulations on your new acquisition.

Hello Dane, that’s a really beautiful weapon for your collection. Things are very different here in Belgium; gun laws are extremely strict. I used to have a permit for a weapons collection, but I gave it up over time. I had a lot of WWII weapons—almost every type of German weapon, even mortars and anti-tank weapons. Now, the rules are so strict that you can barely keep anything—even with a permit or if the weapon has been deactivated, you still have to declare it. It’s crazy here; only edged weapons like sabres and bayonets, and some flare guns, are allowed—though even that can be difficult. Only weapons from before 1895 are unrestricted, provided you can prove they actually date from that era. That’s Belgium for you; everything here is going to ruin—even the way we’re supposed to live these days.
beste regards gino
