All those macedonian helmets

An entire pile of 450 helmets! How fortunate he is to find them.

Have you ever heard of this site?

Hey Joe and Robert, He must have found a pile of 450 fo these 450th helmets, as these are not the first he has offered (of course, he does need to sell many of his items several times before someone does not return them.)
Gus

He must be on that site, big time. He's amazing because although he achieves awsome suckage, he also manages to blow at the same time. :sad3:

Mike,
I think that may be a bit too high praise for this seller.

How come the guy running such a supposedly controversial and defamatory site does'nt get his collar felt and subsequently hauled up in front of the Beak then?

Mikey translation?!?!?!
Why doesn't he get collared and hauled in fornt of the judge.
Gsu

He may not have any connection between his site and ebay. Also, you have to be a member to read the information, that is the reason that the ebay forum is now a member's only forum.

The dealer from the U.K. can be related to the other guy from France .

These are my own opinions and not those of the forum or it's members.
Mark :munky2:

Mark,
My opinion is the same, I would not buy from either of these dealers if I was sure the item was real. If enough people would boycott these types of dealers, then it may help clean up the hobby. I can understand a person selling a few dodgey items, but when nearly everything is questionable, then that says volumes for the character of the seller.

Go check this:

This is an interesting ebay page, maybe it would be possible for someone to set up an ebay page like this one to ID fake helmets. But it may be neccessary to be a multi thousand seller like chinchchin to do so, any rate, it is worth checking into.
Gus

Hey Mikey,
I got my morning work done and have time to say a bit more on this subject. I understand what you are asking, and the ebay page on spotting fake glass is a great example. Several months ago we had a discussion about teaching people to tell a fake from a real helmet, there was resistance to the teaching idea, as some members thought that it would teach the fakers. So the forum put itself in the position of assuming that this forum was the great guru and if some one wanted to know if something was real or fake, they had to pay homage to the forum and it's great members. (it is a variation of the give a fish, teach to fish parable) That type of forum discourages people from joining, and soon it will become a small group. The problem with attacking ebay seller's with out qualifying the comments, is likely to get us in hot water with ebay. Ebay does not care if their members sell fake goods, the only thing that ebay is after is their percentage of the sale. Militarybargins.UK is a big time seller with over three thousand feed back, ebay is making a lot of money off him, and I would guess that they would stick up for him if he complained, so it is important to back up all of our claims that an item is fake, rather than just labeling it so. It would be nice to be able to reach every one and keep people from wasting their money, but with some members unwilling to moderate their comments, the next step was to close the ebay forum to only members. This takes a resource away from non members, but it allows members more freedom in making comments on sellers and items.
Best wishes
Gus

Actually after the forum changed its layout and the ebay forum was "gone" (because I only logged in to post, which is not often), I thought for quite a while that had been simply closed. I recently discovered it again per chance.

Concerning the seller I would favour the thought that he made a good deal with the veterans club of the 450th and bought all their helmets.

Robert

For sure Robert!

Simply, let's expect that the current strength of the veretans club will exceed the real strength of this 450th regiment soon!!!!!

Eric

Oooops, £322 and £332 respectively. Somebody's been sucked in. Unless The Beal-ola bids up his own stuff to create interest?

Should be a couple more on there later today.

That would be me. I have said before that with all due respect, I believe you are being paranoid and completely overestimate what ebay thinks of this little forum. Do you really think a multi-billion $ corporation really gives a rats-ass about a little chat forum? Is ebay tapping your phone too?

And I am amazed that you can say that "the next step was to close the forum". I did not realize this was your forum? I thought it belonged to some friends of mine that actually pay for the server fees.

Tony, the next step was to close the forum to members only, this was a decision made by Brian and Margo, and has already been done.
Ebay is a big mega bucks corporation, and when people who make money for them complain, they will listen, when the forum started, there was a threat that Brian would be kicked off ebay because of forum activity, we changed our activity to avoid that.. We as members have nothing to worry about from ebay, they can not do squat to us, even it we use the same name here as on ebay. You guys are all willing to accept any risk from your comments, because there are non for you to worry about, the risk is all Brian's, and whether the risk is actual or perceived, to throw it at our host is extremely self centered and inconsiderate. By the way, I think that Brian and Margo are your friends that pay the server fees. I can understand that a few mwmbers have been burned by some of these fake dealers, and would like to get even, but to turn this forum into a flame thrower could undermine it's ability to teach.
If I am wrong, I will quit flogging this dead horse.
Gus

Gus, If you want to call me "extremely self centered and inconsiderate" you go right ahead. I have better things to do that let that get to me. I still believe that the 'risk' of ebay closing this forum down, or leaning on our hosts is absurd.

Thieves take photos from my site and Joe's site and in my case, after an endless series of e-maile complaining about this, each time, they do nothing. They do not care about something so insignificant to their bottom line.

For the record, I do not support the flaming of people selling on ebay. Yes, some are rip-offs but many may be people who simply do not know what they have. Some people may have bought garbage thinking it was real and have that faith when they try to sell it. I have no way of knowing.

Tony,
This paranoia about the "theft" of photos that you and Chas have is interesting, but it is not the same as Brian's position, when you complain about some one selling one of your photos, you are cutting into their bottom line, so they are not as interested in doing anything, but if some one complains about Brian's web site costing them sales, then Brian is cutting into their bottom line, ebay will not/ can not shut down the forum, but they can ban Brian from trading on ebay, all it would take is for a large volume seller (like militarybargins.uk) to complain that another ebay member is interfering with their sales. For me, getting kicked off ebay is no big deal, but I would not presume to think that Brian would feel the same way, and by members exercising a bit of civility, there is no problem. It has gotten to the point that even when I asked moderateres to remove vulgar language from a member's post, I received a note of ridicule, does that mean that there should be no limit on what can be said on the forum?
If so, I'll not say anymore.
Gus
