Almost....

When I saw this one, I almost took it. Then I noticed the Reserve Infantry Regiment marking and a brass plate that has been painted over. To me, two red flags.

Hi Ron,

I do not think that the plate is brass.
Further, I see no problem with a reserve unit stamp on a M15. I already saw that on other examples. They are pretty scarce on M15 helmets. This stamp seems to me absolutely original. I am reading RJR28 IIB (the II/RJR28 was deployed in Köln).
The cockades are looking pretty new und unused, like the chinstrap, but because the Haube does not seem to have been worn, they may be original to the helmet.

My 2 bits is this .

The spike is not original to the helmet , but it is an original one .
I think the cocardes are repro but I have seen brand new old stock and it hard to tell not in hand.
The chinstrap looks like an old repro
The stamps look good.
The plate looks good to me . You see brass were the c/s chafes the plate I see rust.
9 out of 10 helmets now a days do not have their cocardes and chinstraps so if you do not have this grey in your collection this would be a good one to fill that hole.

But $600 is double what the price should be .

The presence of a regimental marking was a advantage. The chinstrap seems good for me. For the kokade, less easy to be sure. The M15 is not much sought after which explains that even nice M15 can be sold at low prices
